This image was captured by shooting a glass plate negative via the wet plate collodion process using a camera from 1890. This image consists of handpoured collodion film on a glass plate which was then sensitized, exposed, and developed all while standing waist deep in the Mississippi swamp. This image was developed on location using a dark box that was floating in a small boat along side the camera.

Please note that this is a digital copy of an original hand poured ambrotype. Only minimal adjustments have been made to keep with the charm and aesthetic of the original ambrotype.

Juniper Baryta Rag 305 Paper from Moab offers a style and feel similar to traditional darkroom FB-type paper due to an excellent density with smooth natural highlights. The paper features a 100% cotton fiber base with a 305gsm basis weight and a thickness of 16 mil. Also, it is single-sided and does not use any optical brightening agents for maximum longevity. The paper offers a glossy finish and is made in the USA.

Big Bend Baryta Paper 310gsm offers all of the rich tonality, depth, and feel of a traditional darkroom print. The paper has an elegantly smooth finish and subtle reflectivity. Big Bend has a pleasant neutral white tone imparted by a 100% barium sulfate (baryta) layer. Baryta is the "old school" way of whitening paper and it adds natural richness to portraits and landscapes. Black & White images benefit from Big Bend's deep blacks and exceptional contrast. Use this paper for your final product to surpass gallery and museum expectations.

Photo Rag Baryta Paper from Hahnemuhle features a 100% cotton base with a very finely textured gloss surface finish. The paper also contains barium sulphate to further enhance the density, color gamut, color gradation, and sharpness while maintaining the feel and quality of a traditional paper. It features a basis weight of 315 gsm, a thickness of 15.4 mil, a whiteness of 91%, and opacity of 97%, and is both instant drying and water resistant. The paper is also archival with no optical brightening agents (OBA) along with being acid free and calcium carbonate buffered.

The archival-quality Hahnemuehle FineArt Baryta Paper features a high-gloss baryta inkjet coating which preserves the look and feel of genuine art paper.
